Psalms 64

Psalm 64

The Righteous Will Be Glad in Yahweh

For the choir director. A Psalm of David.

1Hear my voice, O God, in my
Or concern
complaint;
Guard my life from dread of the enemy.
2Hide me from the secret counsel of evildoers,
From the tumult of the workers of iniquity,
3Who have sharpened their tongue like a sword.
They aimed bitter speech as their arrow,
4To shoot
Lit in
from places of hiding at the blameless;
Suddenly they shoot at him, and do not fear.
5They
Lit make firm
hold fast to themselves an evil purpose;
They
Lit recount
talk of laying snares secretly;
They say, “Who can see them?”
6They searched out unrighteousness, saying,
“We have completed a diligent search”;
For the
Or inward part
inward thought of a man and his heart are
Or unsearchable
deep.
7But God
Or shot
will shoot them with an arrow;
Suddenly they will be wounded.
8So
Or they make their tongue a stumbling for themselves
they will cause their own tongue to turn against them;
All who see them will shake their head.
9Then all men
Or feared
will fear,
And they
Or declared
will declare the work of God,
And
Or considered
will consider
Lit His work
what He has done.
10The righteous man will be glad in Yahweh and will take refuge in Him;
And all the upright in heart will boast.
