Now ^athe Lord said to Abram,
“Go from your country,
And from your relatives
And from your father’s house,
To the land which I will show you;

^hAnd in you all the families of the earth will be blessed.”

Ich will segnen , die dich segnen, und verfluchen, die dich verfluchen; und in dir sollen gesegnet werden alle Geschlechter auf der Erde!

So Abram went away as the Lord had spoken to him; and ⁱLot went with him. Now Abram was seventy-five years old when he departed from Haran.

Da ging Abram, wie der Herr zu ihm gesagt hatte, und Lot ging mit ihm. Abram aber war 75 Jahre alt, als er von Haran auszog.

Abram took his wife Sarai and his nephew Lot, and all their ^jpossessions which they had accumulated, and ^kthe ▼

set out for the land of Canaan; ⁿso they came to the land of Canaan.

Und Abram durchzog das Land bis zur Ortschaft Sichem , bis zur Terebinthe Mores. Damals aber waren die Kanaaniter im Land.

And the Lord ^qappeared to Abram and said, “ ^rTo your ▼

descendants I will give this land.” So he built ^tan altar there to the Lord who had appeared to him.

Da erschien der Herr dem Abram und sprach: Deinem Samen will ich dieses Land geben! Und er baute dort dem Herrn, der ihm erschienen war, einen Altar .

Then he proceeded from there to the mountain on the east of Bethel, and pitched his tent with ^vBethel on the west and Ai on the east; and there he built an altar to the Lord and ^wcalled upon the name of the Lord.

Von da zog er weiter auf das Bergland östlich von Bethel und schlug sein Zelt so auf, dass er Bethel im Westen und Ai im Osten hatte. Und er baute dort dem Herrn einen Altar und rief den Namen des Herrn an.

Negev.

Danach brach Abram auf und zog immer weiter nach Süden.

Now there was ^za famine in the land; so Abram went down to Egypt to live there for a time, because the famine was ^aasevere in the land.

Da aber eine Hungersnot im Land herrschte, zog Abram nach Ägypten hinab, um sich dort aufzuhalten; denn die Hungersnot lastete schwer auf dem Land.

So sage doch, du seist meine Schwester , damit es mir um deinetwillen gut geht und meine Seele am Leben bleibt um deinetwillen!

Now it came about, when Abram entered Egypt, that the Egyptians ▼

saw that the woman was very beautiful.

Und es geschah, als Abram nach Ägypten kam, da sahen die Ägypter, dass die Frau sehr schön war.

Pharaoh’s officials saw her and praised her to Pharaoh; and ^ajthe woman was taken into Pharaoh’s house.

Und als die Fürsten des Pharao sie sahen, priesen sie sie vor dem Pharao. Da wurde die Frau in das Haus des Pharao gebracht.

Therefore ^akhe treated Abram well for her sake; and ▼

^amhe gave him sheep, oxen, male donkeys, male servants and female servants, female donkeys, and camels.

But the Lord ^anstruck Pharaoh and his house with great plagues because of Sarai, Abram’s wife.

Then Pharaoh called Abram and said, “ ^aoWhat is this that you have done to me? Why did you not tell me that she was your wife?

Why did you say, ‘She is my sister,’ so that I took her for myself as a wife? Now then, ▼

And Pharaoh commanded his men concerning him; and they ▼

Now Abram was ^auvery rich in livestock, silver, and gold.

Und Abram war sehr reich geworden an Vieh, Silber und Gold.

Und es entstand Streit zwischen den Hirten über Abrams Vieh und den Hirten über Lots Vieh; auch wohnten zu der Zeit die Kanaaniter und Pheresiter im Land.

^bhSo Abram said to Lot, “Please let there be no strife between you and me, nor between my herdsmen and your herdsmen, for we are relatives!

Da sprach Abram zu Lot: Es soll doch nicht Streit sein zwischen mir und dir, zwischen meinen Hirten und deinen Hirten! Denn wir sind Brüder .

Is the entire land not before you? Please separate from me; if you choose the left, then I will go to the right; or if you choose the right, then I will go to the left.”

Steht dir nicht das ganze Land offen? Trenne dich von mir! Willst du zur Linken, so gehe ich zur Rechten; und willst du zur Rechten, so gehe ich zur Linken!

Lot raised his eyes and saw all the ▼

vicinity of the ^bjJordan, that it was well watered everywhere--this was before the Lord ^bkdestroyed Sodom and Gomorrah--like ^blthe garden of the Lord, ^bmlike the land of Egypt ▼

going toward ^boZoar.

Da hob Lot seine Augen auf und sah die ganze Jordanaue; denn sie war überall bewässert, wie der Garten des Herrn, wie das Land Ägypten , bis nach Zoar hinab, bevor der Herr Sodom und Gomorra zerstörte.

So Lot chose for himself all the ▼

vicinity of the Jordan, and Lot journeyed eastward. So they separated from each other.

Darum erwählte sich Lot die ganze Jordanaue und zog gegen Osten. So trennte sich ein Bruder von dem anderen.

The Lord said to Abram, after Lot had separated from him, “ ^byNow raise your eyes and look from the place where you are, ^bznorthward and southward, and eastward and westward;

Der Herr aber sprach zu Abram, nachdem sich Lot von ihm getrennt hatte: Hebe doch deine Augen auf und schaue von dem Ort, wo du wohnst, nach Norden, Süden, Osten und Westen!

Arise, ^chwalk about in the land through its length and width; for ^ciI will give it to you.”

Mach dich auf, durchziehe das Land seiner Länge und Breite nach! Denn dir will ich es geben.

Then Abram moved his tent and came and lived by the ▼

▼Or terebinths

^ckoaks of Mamre, which are in Hebron; and there he built ^clan altar to the Lord.

Da brach Abram auf, kam und wohnte bei den Terebinthen Mamres in Hebron und baute dort dem Herrn einen Altar .

And it came about in the days of Amraphel king of ^cmShinar, Arioch king of Ellasar, Chedorlaomer king of ^cnElam, and Tidal king of ▼

led out his trained men, ^dyborn in his house, numbering 318, and went in pursuit as far as ^dzDan.

Then the king of Sodom said to Abram, “Give the ▼

people to me and take the possessions for yourself.”

Und der König von Sodom sprach zu Abram: Gib mir die Seelen, und die Habe behalte für dich!

But Abram said to the king of Sodom, “I have ▼

▼Lit lifted up my hand

sworn to the Lord ▼

^fcPossessor of heaven and earth,

Abram aber sprach zu dem König von Sodom: Ich hebe meine Hand auf zu dem Herrn, zu Gott, dem Allerhöchsten, dem Besitzer des Himmels und der Erde,

that ^fdI will not take a thread or a sandal strap or anything that is yours, so that you do not say, ‘I have made Abram rich.’

dass ich von allem, was dir gehört, nicht einen Faden noch Schuhriemen nehmen will, damit du nicht sagen kannst: »Ich habe Abram reich gemacht«!

I will take nothing except what the young men have eaten, and the share of the men who went with me, ^ffAner, Eshcol, and Mamre; let them take their share.”

Nichts für mich! Nur was die Knechte gegessen haben, und den Teil der Männer Aner, Eschkol und Mamre, die mit mir gezogen sind — sie sollen ihren Anteil nehmen!

After these things ^fgthe word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision, saying,
“ ^fhDo not fear, Abram,
I am ^fia shield to you;

Your ^fkreward shall be very great.”

heir of my house is Eliezer of Damascus?”

Abram aber sprach: O Herr, Herr, was willst du mir geben, da ich doch kinderlos dahingehe? Und Erbe meines Hauses ist Elieser von Damaskus!

Abram also said, “ ▼

▼Lit Behold

Since You have given me no ▼

▼Lit seed

son, ▼

▼Lit then behold, a son of my

one who has been ^frborn in my house is my heir.”

Und Abram sprach weiter: Siehe, du hast mir keinen Samen ▼

▼d.h. Nachkommen.

gegeben, und siehe, ein Knecht , der in meinem Haus geboren ist, soll mein Erbe sein!

Then behold, the word of the Lord came to him, saying, “This man will not be your heir; ^ftbut one who will come from your own ▼

▼Lit inward parts

body shall be your heir.”

Doch siehe, das Wort des Herrn erging an ihn: Dieser soll nicht dein Erbe sein, sondern der aus deinem Leib hervorgehen wird, der soll dein Erbe sein!

And He took him outside and said, “Now look toward the heavens and ^fvcount the stars, if you are able to count them.” And He said to him, “ ^fwSo shall your ▼

descendants be.”

Und er führte ihn hinaus und sprach: Sieh doch zum Himmel und zähle die Sterne, wenn du sie zählen kannst! Und er sprach zu ihm: So soll dein Same sein!

credited it to him as righteousness.

Und [Abram] glaubte dem Herrn, und das rechnete Er ihm als Gerechtigkeit an.

And He said to him, “I am the Lord who brought you out of ^gaUr of the Chaldeans, to ^gbgive you this land to ▼

possess it.”

Und Er sprach zu ihm: Ich bin der Herr, der dich von Ur in Chaldäa herausgeführt hat, um dir dieses Land zum Erbbesitz zu geben.

But he said, “Lord ▼

God, ^gehow may I know that I will ▼

▼Or inherit

possess it?”

[Abram] aber sprach: Herr, Herr, woran soll ich erkennen, dass ich es als Erbe besitzen werde?

So He said to him, “ ▼

Bring Me a three-year-old heifer, a three-year-old female goat, a three-year-old ram, a turtledove, and a young pigeon.”

Und Er sprach zu ihm: Bringe mir eine dreijährige Kuh und eine dreijährige Ziege und einen dreijährigen Widder und eine Turteltaube und eine junge Taube!

brought all these to Him and ^gjcut them ▼

in two, and laid each half opposite the other; but he ^gldid not cut the birds.

Und er brachte das alles und zerteilte es mittendurch, und legte jedes Teil dem anderen gegenüber. Aber die Vögel zerteilte er nicht. ▼

▼Es handelt sich hier um eine im Alten Orient verbreitete Handlung bei Bundesschlüssen (vgl. Jer 34,18-19). Gott vollzieht den Bund einseitig, von sich aus mit Abram.

And birds of prey came down upon the carcasses, and Abram drove them away.

Da stießen die Raubvögel auf die toten Tiere herab; aber Abram verscheuchte sie.

Now when the sun was going down, ^gna deep sleep fell upon Abram; and behold, ▼

▼Or a terror of great darkness

terror and great darkness fell upon him.

Und es geschah, als die Sonne anfing sich zu neigen, da fiel ein tiefer Schlaf auf Abram, und siehe, Schrecken und große Finsternis überfielen ihn.

Then God said to Abram, “Know for certain that ^gpyour ▼

▼Lit seed

descendants will be strangers in a land that is not theirs, ▼

▼Lit and shall serve them; and they shall afflict them

where ^gsthey will be enslaved and oppressed for ^gtfour hundred years.

Da sprach Er zu Abram: Du sollst mit Gewissheit wissen, dass dein Same ein Fremdling sein wird in einem Land, das ihm nicht gehört; und man wird sie dort zu Knechten machen und demütigen 400 Jahre lang.

But I will also judge the nation whom they will serve, and afterward they will come out ^guwith ▼

many possessions.

Aber auch das Volk, dem sie dienen müssen, will ich richten ; und danach sollen sie mit großer Habe ausziehen.

As for you, ^gwyou shall go to your fathers in peace; you will be buried at a good old age.

Und du sollst in Frieden zu deinen Vätern eingehen und in gutem Alter begraben werden.

Then in ^gxthe fourth generation they will return here, for ^gythe wrongdoing of the Amorite is not yet complete.”

Sie aber sollen in der vierten Generation wieder hierherkommen; denn das Maß der Sünden der Amoriter ist noch nicht voll.

Now it came about, when the sun had set, that it was very dark, and behold, a smoking oven and a flaming torch appeared which ^gzpassed between these pieces.

Und es geschah, als die Sonne untergegangen und es finster geworden war — siehe, [da war] ein rauchender Glutofen und eine Feuerfackel, die zwischen den Stücken hindurchfuhr.

On that day the Lord made a covenant with Abram, saying,

descendants I have given this land,
From ^hcthe river of Egypt as far as the great river, the river Euphrates:

An jenem Tag machte der Herr einen Bund mit Abram und sprach: Deinem Samen habe ich dieses Land gegeben, vom Strom Ägyptens bis an den großen Strom, den Euphrat:

^hdthe land of the Kenite, the Kenizzite, the Kadmonite,

die Keniter , die Kenisiter, die Kadmoniter,

the Hittite, the Perizzite, the Rephaim,

die Hetiter, die Pheresiter , die Rephaiter ,

the Amorite, the Canaanite, the Girgashite, and the Jebusite.”

Now ^heSarai, Abram’s wife, had not borne him a child, but she had ^hfan Egyptian slave woman whose name was Hagar.

So Sarai said to Abram, “See now, the Lord has prevented me from bearing children. ^hhPlease have relations with my slave woman; perhaps I will ▼

Und Sarai sprach zu Abram: Sieh doch, der Herr hat mich verschlossen, dass ich keine Kinder gebären kann. Geh doch ein zu meiner Magd; vielleicht werde ich durch sie Nachkommen empfangen! Und Abram hörte auf die Stimme Sarais.

And so after Abram had lived ^hjten years in the land of Canaan, Abram’s wife Sarai took Hagar the Egyptian, her slave woman, and gave her to her husband Abram as his wife.

Da nahm Sarai, Abrams Frau, ihre ägyptische Magd Hagar, nachdem Abram zehn Jahre lang im Land Kanaan gewohnt hatte, und gab sie Abram, ihrem Mann, zur Frau.

Then he had relations with Hagar, and she conceived; and when Hagar became aware that she had conceived, her mistress was insignificant in her sight.

Und er ging ein zu Hagar, und sie wurde schwanger. Als sie nun sah, dass sie schwanger war, wurde ihre Herrin verächtlich in ihren Augen.

So Sarai said to Abram, “ ^hlMay the wrong done to me be upon you! I put my slave woman into your ▼

arms, but when she saw that she had conceived, I was insignificant in her ▼

sight. ^hoMay the Lord judge between ▼

▼Lit me and you

you and me.”

Da sprach Sarai zu Abram: Das Unrecht, das mir zugefügt wird, treffe dich! Ich habe dir meine Magd in den Schoß gegeben. Da sie nun aber sieht, dass sie schwanger ist, bin ich verächtlich in ihren Augen. Der Herr sei Richter zwischen mir und dir!

But Abram said to Sarai, “Look, your slave woman is in your ▼

power; do to her what is good in your ▼

▼Lit eyes

sight.” So Sarai treated her harshly, and ^hsshe fled from her presence.

Abram aber sprach zu Sarai: Siehe, deine Magd ist in deiner Hand; tue mit ihr, was gut ist in deinen Augen! Da nun Sarai sie demütigte, floh sie von ihr.

Now ^htthe angel of the Lord found her by a spring of water in the wilderness, by the spring on the way to ^huShur.

Aber der Engel des Herrn fand sie bei einem Wasserbrunnen in der Wüste, beim Brunnen auf dem Weg nach Schur .

He said, “Hagar, Sarai’s slave woman, ^hvfrom where have you come, and where are you going?” And she said, “I am fleeing from the presence of my mistress Sarai.”

Er sprach zu ihr: Hagar, du Magd der Sarai, wo kommst du her, und wo willst du hin? Sie sprach: Ich bin von meiner Herrin Sarai geflohen!

So the angel of the Lord said to her, “Return to your mistress, and submit ▼

to her authority.”

Und der Engel des Herrn sprach zu ihr: Kehre wieder zurück zu deiner Herrin und demütige dich unter ihre Hand!

The ^hxangel of the Lord also said to her, “ ^hyI will greatly multiply your ▼

descendants so that ▼

▼Lit they shall not be counted for multitude

they will be too many to count.”

Und der Engel des Herrn sprach zu ihr: Siehe, ich will deinen Samen so mehren, dass er vor großer Menge unzählbar sein soll.

The angel of the Lord said to her further,
“Behold, you are pregnant,
And you will give birth to a son;
And you shall name him ▼

▼I.e., God hears

Ishmael,
Because ^icthe Lord has heard your affliction.

Weiter sprach der Engel des Herrn zu ihr: Siehe, du bist schwanger und wirst einen Sohn gebären, dem sollst du den Namen Ismael ▼

geben, weil der Herr dein Jammern erhört hat.

“But he will be a ^iewild donkey of a man;
His hand will be against everyone,
And everyone’s hand will be against him;
And he will live ▼

▼Lit before the face of; or opposite

^igin defiance of all his brothers.”

Er wird ein wilder Mensch sein, seine Hand gegen jedermann und jedermanns Hand gegen ihn; und er wird allen seinen Brüdern trotzig gegenüberstehen.

Then she called the name of the Lord who spoke to her, “ ▼

▼Or You, God, see me

You are ▼

▼Heb Elroi

a God who sees me”; for she said, “ ^ijHave I even seen Him here and lived after ▼

▼Lit His seeing me

He saw me?”

Und sie nannte den Namen des Herrn, der mit ihr redete: Du bist »der Gott, der [mich] sieht«!, indem sie sprach: Habe ich hier nicht dem nachgesehen, der mich sieht?

Therefore the well was called ▼

▼I.e., the well of the living one who sees me

Beer-lahai-roi; behold, it is between ^imKadesh and Bered.

Darum nannte sie den Brunnen einen »Brunnen des Lebendigen, der mich sieht«. Siehe, er ist zwischen Kadesch und Bared.

So Hagar bore a son to Abram; and Abram named his son, to whom Hagar gave birth, Ishmael.

Und Hagar gebar Abram einen Sohn; und Abram gab seinem Sohn, den ihm Hagar geboren hatte, den Namen Ismael .

Abram was ⁱⁿeighty-six years old when Hagar bore Ishmael to ▼

Und Abram war 86 Jahre alt, als Hagar ihm den Ismael gebar.

Now when Abram was ninety-nine years old, ^ipthe Lord appeared to Abram and said to him,
“I am ▼

God ^irAlmighty;
Walk before Me, and be ▼

▼Lit complete, perfect; or having integrity

^itblameless.

Als nun Abram 99 Jahre alt war, erschien ihm der Herr und sprach zu ihm: Ich bin Gott, der Allmächtige . Wandle vor mir und sei untadelig!

“I will ▼

make My ^ivcovenant between Me and you,
And I will ^iwmultiply you exceedingly.”

Und ich will meinen Bund schließen zwischen mir und dir und will dich über alle Maßen mehren !

Abram ^ixfell on his face, and God talked with him, saying,

Da fiel Abram auf sein Angesicht . Und Gott redete weiter mit ihm und sprach:

“As for Me, behold, My covenant is with you,
And you will be the father of a ^iymultitude of nations.

Siehe, ich bin der, welcher im Bund mit dir steht; und du sollst ein Vater vieler Völker werden.

“No longer shall you be named ▼

▼I.e., exalted father

Abram,
But ^jayour name shall be ▼

▼I.e., father of a multitude

Abraham;
For ^jcI have made you the father of a multitude of nations.

Darum sollst du nicht mehr Abram ▼

heißen, sondern Abraham ▼

soll dein Name sein; denn ich habe dich zum Vater vieler Völker gemacht.

I will make you exceedingly fruitful, and I will make nations of you, and ^jfkings will come from you.

Und ich will dich sehr, sehr fruchtbar machen und will dich zu Völkern machen; auch Könige sollen von dir herkommen.

I will establish My covenant between Me and you and your ▼

descendants after you throughout their generations as an ^jheverlasting covenant, ^jito be God to you and ^jjto your ▼

Und ich will meinen Bund aufrichten zwischen mir und dir und deinem Samen nach dir von Geschlecht zu Geschlecht als einen ewigen Bund, dein Gott zu sein und der deines Samens nach dir.

And ^jlI will give to you and to your ▼

▼Lit seed

descendants after you the land where you live as a stranger, all the land of Canaan, as an everlasting possession; and ^jnI will be their God.”

Und ich will dir und deinem Samen nach dir das Land zum ewigen Besitz geben, in dem du ein Fremdling bist, nämlich das ganze Land Kanaan, und ich will ihr Gott sein.

God said further to Abraham, “Now as for you, ^joyou shall keep My covenant, you and your ▼

descendants after you throughout their generations.

Und Gott sprach weiter zu Abraham: So bewahre du nun meinen Bund, du und dein Same nach dir, von Geschlecht zu Geschlecht!

^jqThis is My covenant, which you shall keep, between Me and you and your ▼

▼Lit seed

descendants after you: every male among you shall be circumcised.

Das ist aber mein Bund, den ihr bewahren sollt, zwischen mir und euch und deinem Samen nach dir: Alles, was männlich ist unter euch, soll beschnitten werden.

And ^jsyou shall be circumcised in the flesh of your foreskin, and it shall be the sign of the covenant between Me and you.

Und ihr sollt am Fleisch eurer Vorhaut beschnitten werden. Das soll ein Zeichen des Bundes sein zwischen mir und euch.

And every male among you who is ^jteight days old shall be circumcised throughout your generations, including a slave who is born in the house or who is bought with money from any foreigner, who is not of your ▼

descendants.

Jedes Männliche von euren Nachkommen soll bei euch beschnitten werden, wenn es acht Tage alt ist, sei es im Haus geboren oder um Geld erkauft von irgendwelchen Fremden, die nicht von deinem Samen sind.

A slave who is born in your house or ^jvwho is bought with your money shall certainly be circumcised; so My covenant shall be in your flesh as an everlasting covenant.

Was in deinem Haus geboren oder um Geld erkauft wird, soll unbedingt beschnitten werden. So soll mein Bund an eurem Fleisch sein, ein ewiger Bund.

But as for an uncircumcised male, one who is not circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin, that person shall be ^jwcut off from his people; he has broken My covenant.”

Und ein unbeschnittener Mann, einer, der sich nicht beschneiden lässt am Fleisch seiner Vorhaut, dessen Seele soll ausgerottet werden aus seinem Volk, weil er meinen Bund gebrochen hat!

Then God said to Abraham, “As for your wife Sarai, you shall not call her by the name ▼

▼I.e., princess

Sarai, but ▼

▼I.e., princess (in another dialect)

Sarah shall be her name.

Und Gott sprach weiter zu Abraham: Du sollst deine Frau Sarai nicht mehr Sarai ▼

▼bed. »Edelsinn« od. »Die Fürstliche«.

nennen, sondern Sarah ▼

▼bed. »Fürstin«.

soll ihr Name sein;

I will bless her, and indeed I will give you ^kba son by her. Then I will bless her, and she shall be a mother of nations; ^kckings of peoples will ▼

come from her.”

denn ich will sie segnen und will dir auch von ihr einen Sohn geben. Ich will sie segnen, und sie soll zu Nationen werden, und Könige von Völkern sollen von ihr kommen!

Then Abraham ^kefell on his face and laughed, and said in his heart, “Will a child be born to a man a hundred years old? And ^kfwill Sarah, who is ninety years old, give birth to a child?”

Da fiel Abraham auf sein Angesicht und lachte und sprach in seinem Herzen: Sollte einem Hundertjährigen ein Kind geboren werden, und Sarah, die Neunzigjährige, sollte gebären?

And Abraham said to God, “Oh that Ishmael might live before You!”

Und Abraham sprach zu Gott: Ach, dass Ismael vor dir leben möchte!

But God said, “No, but your wife Sarah will bear you ^kga son, and you shall name him ▼

Isaac; and ^kiI will establish My covenant with him as an everlasting covenant for his ▼

▼Lit seed

descendants after him.

Da sprach Gott: Nein, sondern Sarah, deine Frau, soll dir einen Sohn gebären, den sollst du Isaak ▼

▼bed. »Er wird lachen« (vgl. 1Mo 17,17; 18,12-15; 21,6).

nennen; denn ich will mit ihm einen Bund aufrichten als einen ewigen Bund für seinen Samen nach ihm.

As for Ishmael, I have heard you; behold, I will bless him, and ^kmmake him fruitful and multiply him exceedingly. ^knHe shall father twelve princes, and I will make him into a ^kogreat nation.

Wegen Ismael aber habe ich dich auch erhört. Siehe, ich habe ihn reichlich gesegnet und will ihn fruchtbar machen und sehr mehren . Er wird zwölf Fürsten zeugen, und ich will ihn zu einem großen Volk machen.

But I will establish My covenant with ^kpIsaac, whom ^kqSarah will bear to you at this season next year.”

Meinen Bund aber will ich mit Isaak aufrichten, den dir Sarah um diese bestimmte Zeit im nächsten Jahr gebären soll!

When He finished talking with him, ^krGod went up from Abraham.

Und als er mit ihm ausgeredet hatte, erhob sich Gott hinweg von Abraham.

Then Abraham took his son Ishmael, and all the slaves who were ^ksborn in his house and all who were bought with his money, every male among the men of Abraham’s household, and circumcised the flesh of their foreskin on this very same day, ^ktas God had said to him.

Da nahm Abraham seinen Sohn Ismael und alle in seinem Haus geborenen [Knechte], und alle, die um sein Geld erkauft waren, alles, was männlich war unter seinen Hausgenossen, und er beschnitt das Fleisch ihrer Vorhaut am selben Tag, wie Gott es ihm gesagt hatte.

Now Abraham was ninety-nine years old when ^kuhe was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin.

Und Abraham war 99 Jahre alt, als das Fleisch seiner Vorhaut beschnitten wurde.

And his son ^kvIshmael was thirteen years old when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin.

Ismael aber, sein Sohn, war 13 Jahre alt, als das Fleisch seiner Vorhaut beschnitten wurde.

On this very same day Abraham was circumcised, as well as his son Ishmael.

Am selben Tag ließen sich Abraham und sein Sohn Ismael beschneiden;

And all the men of his household, those who were ^kwborn in the house or bought with money from a foreigner, were circumcised with him.

und alles, was männlich war in seinem Haus, daheim geboren und von Fremdlingen um Geld erkauft, wurde mit ihm beschnitten.
