Zechariah 3

Joshua, the High Priest

1 Then he showed me ^aJoshua the high priest standing before the angel of the Lord, and ^{▼▼Satan is Heb for Adversary; or Accuser
,} ^cSatan standing at his right to accuse him. 2 And the Lord said to Satan, “ ^dThe Lord rebuke you, Satan! Indeed, the Lord who has ^echosen Jerusalem rebuke you! Is this not a ^flog snatched from the fire?” 3 Now Joshua was clothed in ^gfilthy garments and was standing before the angel. 4 And he responded and said to those who were standing before him, saying, “ ^hRemove the filthy garments from him.” Again he said to him, “See, I have ⁱtaken your guilt away from you and ^{▼▼Lit to clothe}will ^kclothe you with festive robes.” 5 Then I said, “Have them put a clean ^lheadband on his head.” So they put the clean headband on his head and clothed him with garments, while the angel of the Lord was standing by.

6 And the angel of the Lord admonished Joshua, saying, 7 “The Lord of armies says this: ‘If you ^mwalk in My ways and perform My service, then you will both ⁿgovern My house and be in charge of My ^ocourtyards, and I will grant you ^{▼▼Lit goings}free access among these who are standing here.

The Branch

8 Now listen, Joshua, you high priest, you and your friends who are sitting in front of you --indeed they are men who are a ^qsign: for behold, I am going to bring in My servant the ^{▼▼Lit Sprout
,} ^sBranch. 9 For behold, the stone that I have put before Joshua; on one stone are ^tseven eyes. Behold, I am going to engrave an inscription on it,’ declares the Lord of armies, ‘and I will ^uremove the guilt of that land in one day. 10 On that day,’ declares the Lord of armies, ‘every one of you will invite his neighbor to sit under his ^vvine and under his fig tree.’”

The Golden Lampstand and the Olive Trees

1 Then ^wthe angel who had been speaking with me returned and ^xwoke me, like a person who is awakened from his sleep. 2 And he said to me, “ ^yWhat do you see?” And I said, “I see, and behold, a ^zlampstand all of gold with its bowl on the top of it, and its ^aaseven lamps on it with seven ^{▼▼Or reeds}spouts belonging to each of the lamps which are on the top of it; 3 also ^actwo olive trees by it, one on the right side of the bowl and the other on its left side.” 4 Then I said to the angel who was speaking with me, saying, “What are these, ^admy lord?” 5 So ^aethe angel who was speaking with me answered and said to me, “ ^afDo you not know what these are?” And I said, “No, my lord.” 6 Then he said to ^{▼▼Lit me, saying}me, “This is the word of the Lord to ^ahZerubbabel, saying, ‘ ^aiNot by might nor by power, but by My ^ajSpirit,’ says the Lord of armies. 7 ‘What are you, you great ^akmountain? Before Zerubbabel you will become a plain; and he will bring out the top stone with ^alshouts of “Grace, grace to it!”’”
