(ESV)
Zillah also bore Tubal-cain; he was the
forger of
all instruments of
bronze and
iron. The
sister of
Tubal-cain was
Naamah.

(ESV)
Why did you
say, ‘She is my
sister,’ so that
I took her for my
wife?
Now then, here is your
wife;
take her, and
go.”
(OHB)
(ESV)
And
Abraham said of Sarah his
wife,
“
She is my
sister.” And
Abimelech king of
Gerar sent and
took Sarah.
(OHB)
(ESV)
Did he not himself
say to me, ‘
She is my
sister’?
And she herself said, ‘He is my
brother.’ In the
integrity of my
heart and the
innocence of my
hands I have
done this.”
(OHB)

(ESV)
Besides, she is
indeed my
sister, the
daughter of my
father though
not the
daughter of my
mother, and she
became my
wife.
(OHB)

(ESV)
As soon as he
saw the
ring and the
bracelets on his
sister’s arms, and
heard the
words of
Rebekah his
sister, “
Thus the
man spoke to me,” he
went to the
man. And
behold, he was
standing by the
camels at the
spring.
(OHB)

(ESV)
So they
sent away Rebekah their
sister and
her nurse, and
Abraham’s servant and
his men.
(OHB)
(ESV)
And they
blessed Rebekah and
said to her,
“
Our sister, may you
becomethousands of
ten thousands,
and may your
offspring possessthe
gate of those who
hate him!”
(OHB)
(ESV)
and
Isaac was
forty years old when he
took Rebekah,
the
daughter of
Bethuel the
Aramean of
Paddan-aram,
the
sister of
Laban the
Aramean, to be his
wife.
(OHB)

(ESV)
When the
men of the
place asked him about his
wife,
he said, “She is my
sister,” for
he feared to
say, “My
wife,” thinking, “lest the
men of the
place should
kill me because of
Rebekah,” because
she was
attractive in
appearance.
(OHB)

(ESV)
So
Abimelech called Isaac and
said, “
Behold, she
is your
wife.
How then could you
say, ‘She is my
sister’?”
Isaac said to him, “
Because I
thought, ‘
Lest I
die because of
her.’”
(OHB)

(ESV)
Esau went to Ishmael and
took as his
wife,
besides the
wives he had,
Mahalath the

Ishmael,
Abraham’s son, the
sister of
Nebaioth.
(OHB)

(ESV)
As soon as
Laban heard the
news about
Jacob, his
sister’s son,
he ran to
meet him and
embraced him and
kissed him and
brought him
to his
house. Jacob
told Laban all these things,
(OHB)

(ESV)
When
Rachel saw that she
bore Jacob no children,
she envied her
sister. She
said to Jacob, “
Give me
children,
or I shall
die!”
(OHB)

(ESV)
Then
Rachel said, “With
mighty wrestlings I have
wrestled with my
sister and have
prevailed.” So she
called his
name Naphtali.
(OHB)

(ESV)
The
sons of
Jacob answered Shechem and his
father Hamor deceitfully, because
he had
defiled their sister Dinah.
(OHB)

(ESV)
They
said to them, “We
cannot do this thing, to
give our
sister to
one who is
uncircumcised, for
that would be a
disgrace to
us.
(OHB)

(ESV)
The
sons of
Jacob came upon the
slain and
plundered the
city,
because they had
defiled their sister.
(OHB)
(ESV)
But they
said, “Should he
treat our sister like a
prostitute?”
(OHB)

(ESV)
and
Basemath,
Ishmael’s daughter, the
sister of
Nebaioth.

The

The

(OHB)
(ESV)
And his
sister stood at a
distance to
know what would be
done to
him.
(OHB)

(ESV)
Then his

(ESV)
Aaron took as his

(ESV)
Then
Miriam the
prophetess, the
sister of

(ESV)
And you shall

There shall be

So shall you

(ESV)
And her
father said, “I
really thought that you
utterly hated her, so I
gave her to your
companion. Is not her
younger sister more beautiful than
she?
Please take her
instead.”
(OHB)

(ESV)
Now
Absalom,
David’s son, had a
beautiful sister, whose
name was
Tamar. And
after a time Amnon,
David’s son,
loved her.
(OHB)
(ESV)
And
Amnon was so
tormented that he made himself
ill because
of his
sister Tamar,
for she was a
virgin, and it
seemed impossible to
Amnon to
do anything to her.
(OHB)
(ESV)
And he
said to him, “O
son of the
king,
why are
you so
haggard morning after
morning? Will you
not tell me?”
Amnon said to him, “
I love Tamar, my
brother Absalom’s sister.”
(OHB)
(ESV)
Jonadab said to him, “Lie
down on your
bed and pretend to be
ill. And when your
father comes to
see you,
say to him, ‘Let my
sister Tamar come and
give me
bread to eat, and
prepare the
food in my
sight,
that I may
see it and
eat it from
her hand.’”
(OHB)
(ESV)
So
Amnon lay down and pretended to be
ill. And when the
king came to
see him,
Amnon said to the
king, “
Please let my
sister Tamar come and
make a
couple of
cakes in my
sight, that I may
eat from
her hand.”
(OHB)
(ESV)
But when she
brought them near him
to eat, he took
hold of her and
said to her, “
Come,
lie with me,
my sister.”
(OHB)
(ESV)
And her
brother Absalom said to her, “Has
Amnon your
brother been
with you? Now hold your
peace, my
sister. He is your
brother; do
not take this to
heart.” So
Tamar lived, a
desolate woman, in
her brother Absalom’s house.
(OHB)

(ESV)
But
Absalom spoke to Amnon neither good nor bad,
for Absalom hated Amnon,
because he had
violated his sister Tamar.
(OHB)

But
Jonadab the
son of
Shimeah,
David’s brother,
said, “Let
not my
lord suppose that they have
killed all the
young men, the
king’s sons,
for Amnon alone is
dead.
For by the
command of
Absalom this has been
determined from the
day he
violated his sister Tamar.
(OHB)

(ESV)
Now
Absalom had
set Amasa over the
army instead of
Joab.
Amasa was the
son of a
man named Ithra the
Ishmaelite,
who had
married Abigal the
daughter of
Nahash,
sister of
Zeruiah,
Joab’s mother.

And
Hadad found great favor in the
sight of
Pharaoh, so that he
gave him in
marriage the

(OHB)

(ESV)
And the
sister of
Tahpenes bore him
Genubath his
son, whom
Tahpenes weaned in Pharaoh’s house. And
Genubath was in
Pharaoh’s house among the
sons of
Pharaoh.
(OHB)
(ESV)
But
Jehosheba, the
daughter of
King Joram,
sister of
Ahaziah,
took Joash the
son of
Ahaziah and stole him
away from among the
king’s sons who were being
put to death, and she
put him and his
nurse in a
bedroom. Thus they
hid him from Athaliah, so that he was
not put to death.
(OHB)

And their
sisters were
Zeruiah and

The
