flesh of his
foreskin shall be
cut off from his

Abraham took Ishmael his

born in his
house or
bought with his
money,
every male among the
men of
Abraham’s house, and he
circumcised the
flesh of their
foreskins that

said to him.

this condition will we
agree with you—
that you will become as we are by
every male among you
being circumcised.

“If his
offering is a
burnt offering from the
herd, he shall
offer a
male without blemish. He shall bring it
to the
entrance of the
tent of
meeting, that he may be
accepted before the
Lord.

הַבָּקָר זָכָר תָּמִים יַקְרִיבֶנּוּ אֶל־

sin which he has
committed is made
known to him, he shall

goat, a

valuation shall be for a

22,273.

putting them
outside the
camp, that they may
not defile their
camp,
in the
midst of
which I dwell.”

warred against Midian,
as the
Lord commanded Moses, and
killed every male.

נֶפֶשׁ שְׁנַיִם וּשְׁלֹשִׁים אָֽלֶף׃

beware
lest you
act corruptly by
making a
carved image for yourselves, in the
form of
any figure,
the
likeness of
male or
female,
פֶּן־
תַּשְׁחִתוּן וַעֲשִׂיתֶם לָכֶם פֶּסֶל תְּמוּנַת כָּל־
סָמֶל תַּבְנִית זָכָר אוֹ נְקֵבָֽה׃

“
All the
firstborn males that are
born of your
herd and
flock you shall
dedicate to the
Lord your
God. You shall do
no work with the
firstborn of your
herd,
nor shear the
firstborn of
your flock.
כָּֽל־
הַבְּכוֹר אֲשֶׁר יִוָּלֵד בִּבְקָרְךָ וּבְצֹֽאנְךָ הַזָּכָר תַּקְדִּישׁ לַיהוָה אֱלֹהֶיךָ לֹא תַעֲבֹד בִּבְכֹר שׁוֹרֶךָ וְלֹא תָגֹז בְּכוֹר צֹאנֶֽךָ׃

And
this is the
reason why
Joshua circumcised them:
all the
males of the
people who
came out of
Egypt,
all the
men of
war, had
died in the
wilderness on the
way after they had
come out of
Egypt.
וְזֶה הַדָּבָר אֲשֶׁר־
מָל יְהוֹשֻׁעַ כָּל־
הָעָם הַיֹּצֵא מִמִּצְרַיִם הַזְּכָרִים כֹּל ׀
אַנְשֵׁי הַמִּלְחָמָה מֵתוּ בַמִּדְבָּר בַּדֶּרֶךְ בְּצֵאתָם מִמִּצְרָֽיִם׃

And allotments were made to the
rest of the
people of
Manasseh by their
clans,
Abiezer,
Helek,
Asriel,
Shechem,
Hepher, and
Shemida.
These were the
male descendants of
Manasseh the
son of
Joseph, by
their clans.
וַיְהִי לִבְנֵי מְנַשֶּׁה הַנּוֹתָרִים לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָם לִבְנֵי אֲבִיעֶזֶר וְלִבְנֵי־
חֵלֶק וְלִבְנֵי אַשְׂרִיאֵל וְלִבְנֵי־
שֶׁכֶם וְלִבְנֵי־
חֵפֶר וְלִבְנֵי שְׁמִידָע אֵלֶּה בְּנֵי מְנַשֶּׁה בֶּן־
יוֹסֵף הַזְּכָרִים לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָֽם׃

This is
what you shall
do:
every male and
every woman that has
lain with a
male you shall
devote to destruction.”

זָכָר תַּחֲרִֽימוּ׃

found among the
inhabitants of
Jabesh-gilead 400 young virgins who had
not known a
man by
lying with him, and they
brought them
to the
camp at
Shiloh,
which is in the
land of
Canaan.
וַֽיִּמְצְאוּ מִיּוֹשְׁבֵי ׀
יָבֵישׁ גִּלְעָד אַרְבַּע מֵאוֹת נַעֲרָה בְתוּלָה אֲשֶׁר לֹֽא־
יָדְעָה אִישׁ לְמִשְׁכַּב זָכָר וַיָּבִיאוּ אוֹתָם אֶל־
הַֽמַּחֲנֶה שִׁלֹה אֲשֶׁר בְּאֶרֶץ כְּנָֽעַן׃ ס

Edom, and
Joab the
commander of the
army went up to
bury the
slain, he
struck down every male in
Edom
