Hebrews 3
Jesus Our High Priest
1Therefore, aholy brethren, partakers of a bheavenly calling, consider Jesus, cthe Apostle and dHigh Priest of our econfession; 2 ▼▼ Lit Being faithful
He was faithful to Him who appointed Him, as gMoses also was in all His house. 3 hFor He has been counted worthy of more glory than Moses, by just so much as the builder of the house has more honor than the house. 4For every house is built by someone, but the builder of all things is God. 5Now iMoses was faithful in all His house as ja servant, kfor a testimony of those things lwhich were to be spoken later; 6but Christ was faithful as ma Son over His house— nwhose house we are, oif we hold fast our pconfidence and the boast of our qhope firm until the end. 7Therefore, just as rthe Holy Spirit says, s“Today if you hear His voice,8 t Do not harden your hearts as ▼
▼ Lit in the provocation
when they provoked Me,As in the day of trial in the wilderness,
9 v Where your fathers tried Me by testing Me,
And saw My works for w forty years.
10 x“Therefore I was angry with this generation,
And said, ‘They always go astray in their heart,
And they did not know My ways’;
11 y As I swore in My wrath,
‘They shall not enter My rest.’”
The Peril of Unbelief
12 zTake care, brethren, that there not be in any one of you an evil, unbelieving heart ▼▼ Lit in falling
that falls away from abthe living God. 13But acencourage one another day after day, as long as it is still called “Today,” so that none of you will be hardened by the addeceitfulness of sin. 14For we have become partakers of Christ, aeif we hold fast the beginning of our afassurance firm until the end, 15while it is said, ag“Today if you hear His voice,Do not harden your hearts, as ▼
▼ Lit in the rebellion
when they provoked Me.”16For who aiprovoked Him when they had heard? Indeed, ajdid not all those who came out of Egypt led by Moses? 17And with whom was He angry for forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, akwhose bodies fell in the wilderness? 18And to whom did He swear althat they would not enter His rest, but to those who were amdisobedient? 19So we see that they were not able to enter because of anunbelief.
