Philippians 3
The Goal of Life
1Finally, my brethren, arejoice in the Lord. To write the same things again is no trouble to me, and it is a safeguard for you. 2Beware of the bdogs, beware of the cevil workers, beware of the ▼▼ Lit mutilation; Gr katatome
false circumcision; 3for ewe are the true ▼▼ Gr peritome
circumcision, who gworship in the Spirit of God and hglory in iChrist Jesus and put no confidence in the flesh, 4although jI myself might have confidence even in the flesh. If anyone else has a mind to put confidence in the flesh, I far more: 5 kcircumcised the eighth day, of the lnation of Israel, of the mtribe of Benjamin, a nHebrew of Hebrews; as to the Law, oa Pharisee; 6as to zeal, pa persecutor of the church; as to the qrighteousness which is in the Law, found rblameless. 7But swhatever things were gain to me, those things I have counted as loss for the sake of Christ. 8More than that, I count all things to be loss ▼▼ Lit because of
in view of the surpassing value of ▼▼ Lit the knowledge of
,
vknowing wChrist Jesus my Lord, ▼▼ Lit because of
for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them but rubbish so that I may gain Christ, 9and may be found in Him, not having ya righteousness of my own derived from the Law, but that which is through faith in Christ, zthe righteousness which comes from God on the basis of faith, 10that I may aaknow Him and abthe power of His resurrection and ▼▼ Or participation in
,
adthe fellowship of His sufferings, being aeconformed to His death; 11 ▼▼ Lit if somehow
in order that I may agattain to the resurrection from the dead. 12Not that I have already ahobtained it or have already aibecome perfect, but I press on ▼▼ Lit if I may even
so that I may aklay hold of that ▼▼ Or because also
for which also I amwas laid hold of by anChrist Jesus. 13Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet; but one thing I do: aoforgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, 14I appress on toward the goal for the prize of the aqupward call of God in arChrist Jesus. 15Let us therefore, as many as are ▼▼ Or mature
,
atperfect, have this attitude; and if in anything you have a audifferent attitude, avGod will reveal that also to you; 16however, let us keep ▼▼ Lit following in line
,
axliving by that same standard to which we have attained. 17Brethren, ayjoin in following my example, and observe those who walk according to the azpattern you have in us. 18For bamany walk, of whom I often told you, and now tell you even bbweeping, that they are enemies of bcthe cross of Christ, 19whose end is destruction, whose god is their ▼▼ Lit belly
,
beappetite, and whose bfglory is in their shame, who bgset their minds on earthly things. 20For bhour ▼▼ Lit commonwealth
citizenship is in heaven, from which also we eagerly bjwait for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ; 21who will bktransform ▼▼ Or our lowly body
the body of our humble state into bmconformity with ▼▼ Or His glorious body
the bobody of His glory, bpby the exertion of the power that He has even to bqsubject all things to Himself.
