‏ Psalms 50

God the Judge of the Righteous and the Wicked.

A Psalm of
1 Chr 15:17; 2 Chr 29:30
Asaph.

1 bThe Mighty One, God, the Lord, has spoken,
And summoned the earth cfrom the rising of the sun to its setting.
2Out of Zion, dthe perfection of beauty,
God ehas shone forth.
3May our God fcome and not keep silence;
gFire devours before Him,
And it is very htempestuous around Him.
4He isummons the heavens above,
And the earth, to judge His people:
5Gather My jgodly ones to Me,
Those who have made a kcovenant with Me by lsacrifice.”
6And the mheavens declare His righteousness,
For nGod Himself is judge.
Selah may mean: Pause, Crescendo or Musical interlude
Selah.

7 pHear, O My people, and I will speak;
O Israel, I will testify
Or to
against you;
I am God, ryour God.
8“I do snot reprove you for your sacrifices,
And your burnt offerings are continually before Me.
9I shall take no tyoung bull out of your house
Nor male goats out of your folds.
10“For uevery beast of the forest is Mine,
The cattle on a thousand hills.
11I know every vbird of the mountains,
And everything that moves in the field is
Or in My mind; lit with Me
Mine.
12If I were hungry I would not tell you,
For the xworld is Mine, and
Lit its fullness
all it contains.
13Shall I eat the flesh of
Lit strong ones
,
aabulls
Or drink the blood of male goats?
14Offer to God aba sacrifice of thanksgiving
And acpay your vows to the Most High;
15 adCall upon Me in the day of trouble;
I shall aerescue you, and you will afhonor Me.”

16But to the wicked God says,
What right have you to tell of My statutes
And to take agMy covenant in your mouth?
17“For you ahhate discipline,
And you aicast My words behind you.
18When you see a thief, you
Some ancient versions read run together
,
akare pleased with him,
And
Lit your part is with
you amassociate with adulterers.
19“You
Lit send
,
aolet your mouth loose in evil
And your aptongue frames deceit.
20You sit and aqspeak against your brother;
You slander your own mother’s son.
21These things you have done and arI kept silence;
You thought that I was just like you;
I will asreprove you and state the case in order before your eyes.

22Now consider this, you who atforget God,
Or I will autear you in pieces, and there will be none to deliver.
23“He who avoffers a sacrifice of thanksgiving honors Me;
And to him who
Lit sets
,
axorders his way aright
I shall ayshow the salvation of God.”
