‏ Psalms 72

The Reign of the Righteous King.

A Psalm of Solomon.

1 Give the king aYour judgments, O God,
And bYour righteousness to the king’s son.
2
Or He will judge
May
Many of the pronouns in this Psalm may be rendered He since the typical reference is to the Messiah
he ejudge Your people with righteousness
And
Or Your humble
,
gYour afflicted with justice.

Or The mountains will bring
Let the mountains bring
Or prosperity
,
jpeace to the people,
And the hills, in righteousness.
4
Or He will vindicate
May he lvindicate the
Or humble
afflicted of the people,
Save the children of the needy
And crush the oppressor.

Or They will fear
Let them fear You owhile the sun endures,
And
Lit before the moon
as long as the moon, throughout all generations.
6
Or He will come down
May he come down rlike rain upon the mown grass,
Like sshowers that water the earth.
7In his days
Or the righteous will flourish
may the urighteous flourish,
And vabundance of peace till the moon is no more.

8May he also rule wfrom sea to sea
And from the River to the ends of the earth.

Or The nomads...will bow
Let ythe nomads of the desert zbow before him,
And his enemies aalick the dust.

Or The kings...will bring
Let the kings of acTarshish and of the
Or coastlands
,
aeislands bring presents;
The kings of afSheba and agSeba ahoffer
Or tribute
gifts.

Or All kings will bow down
And let all akkings bow down before him,
All alnations serve him.

12For he will amdeliver the needy when he cries for help,
The
Or humble
afflicted also, and him who has no helper.
13He will have aocompassion on the poor and needy,
And the
Lit souls
lives of the needy he will save.
14He will
Lit redeem
,
arrescue their
Lit soul
life from oppression and violence,
And their blood will be atprecious in his sight;
15So may he live, and may the augold of Sheba be given to him;
And let
Lit him
them pray for him continually;
Let
Lit him
them bless him all day long.

16May there be abundance of grain in the earth on top of the mountains;
Its fruit will wave like the cedars of axLebanon;
And may those from the city flourish like ayvegetation of the earth.
17May his azname endure forever;
May his name
Or sprout forth
increase
Lit before the sun
,
bcas long as the sun shines;
And let men bdbless themselves by him;
beLet all nations call him blessed.

18 bfBlessed be the Lord God, the God of Israel,
Who alone bgworks wonders.
19And blessed be His bhglorious name forever;
And may the whole biearth be filled with His glory.
