Romans 12
Dedicated Service
1Therefore aI urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to bpresent your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, ▼▼ Or well-pleasing
acceptable to God, which is your ▼▼ Or rational
spiritual service of worship. 2And do not ebe conformed to fthis ▼▼ Or age
world, but be transformed by the hrenewing of your mind, so that you may ▼▼ Or approve
,
jprove what the will of God is, that which is good and ▼▼ Or well-pleasing
acceptable and perfect. 3For through lthe grace given to me I say to everyone among you mnot to think more highly of himself than he ought to think; but to think so as to have sound judgment, as God has allotted to neach a measure of faith. 4For ojust as we have many members in one body and all the members do not have the same function, 5so we, pwho are many, are qone body in Christ, and individually members one of another. 6Since we have gifts that rdiffer according to the grace given to us, each of us is to exercise them accordingly: if sprophecy, ▼▼ Or in agreement with the faith
according to the proportion of his faith; 7if ▼▼ Or office of service
,
vservice, in his serving; or he who wteaches, in his teaching; 8or he who xexhorts, in his exhortation; he who gives, with ▼▼ Or simplicity
,
zliberality; aahe who ▼▼ Or gives aid
leads, with diligence; he who shows mercy, with accheerfulness. 9 Let adlove be without hypocrisy. aeAbhor what is evil; cling to what is good. 10Be afdevoted to one another in brotherly love; ▼▼ Or outdo one another in showing honor
give preference to one another ahin honor; 11not lagging behind in diligence, aifervent in spirit, ajserving the Lord; 12 akrejoicing in hope, alpersevering in tribulation, amdevoted to prayer, 13 ancontributing to the needs of the ▼▼ Or holy ones
saints, ▼▼ Lit pursuing
,
aqpracticing hospitality. 14 arBless those who persecute ▼▼ Two early mss do not contain you
you; bless and do not curse. 15 atRejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep. 16 auBe of the same mind toward one another; avdo not be haughty in mind, but ▼▼ Or accommodate yourself to lowly things
associate with the lowly. axDo not be wise in your own estimation. 17 ayNever pay back evil for evil to anyone. ▼▼ Lit Take thought for
,
baRespect what is right in the sight of all men. 18If possible, bbso far as it depends on you, bcbe at peace with all men. 19 bdNever take your own revenge, beloved, but ▼▼ Lit give a place
leave room for the wrath of God, for it is written, bf“Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord. 20 bg“But if your enemy is hungry, feed him, and if he is thirsty, give him a drink; for in so doing you will heap burning coals on his head.” 21Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
