2 Thessalonians 2
Man of Lawlessness
1 Now we ask you, abrothers and sisters, regarding the ▼▼Or presence
ccoming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our dgathering together to Him, 2that you not be quickly shaken from your ▼▼Lit mind
composure or be disturbed either by a fspirit, or a ▼▼Lit word
hmessage, or a iletter as if from us, to the effect that jthe day of the Lord khas come. 3 lNo one is to deceive you in any way! For it will not come unless the ▼▼Or falling away from the faith
napostasy comes first, and the oman of lawlessness is revealed, the pson of destruction, 4who opposes and exalts himself above ▼▼Or everyone who is called God
revery so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, sdisplaying himself as being God. 5Do you not remember that twhile I was still with you, I was telling you these things? 6And you know uwhat restrains him now, so that he will be revealed in his time. 7For vthe mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only ▼▼Or he
xHe who now restrains will do so until ▼▼Or he
He is ▼▼Or out of the way
removed. 8Then that lawless one aawill be revealed, whom the Lord will eliminate abwith the breath of His mouth and bring to an end by the acappearance of His ▼▼Or presence
coming; 9that is, the one whose ▼▼Or presence
coming is in accord with the activity of afSatan, with all power and false ▼▼I.e., confirming miracles
ahsigns and wonders, 10and with ▼▼Or every deception
all the deception of wickedness for ajthose who perish, because they did not accept the love of akthe truth so as to be saved. 11For this reason alGod ▼▼Lit is sending
will send upon them ▼▼Lit an activity of error
a aodeluding influence so that they will believe ▼▼Or the lie
what is false, 12in order that they all may be ▼▼Or condemned
judged who ardid not believe the truth, but ▼▼Or approved
attook pleasure in wickedness. Stand Firm
13 auBut we should always give thanks to God for you, avbrothers and sisters beloved by the Lord, because awGod has chosen you ▼▼One early ms first fruits
from the beginning ayfor salvation ▼▼Lit in
bathrough sanctification ▼▼Lit of
by the Spirit and faith in the truth. 14It was for this He bccalled you through bdour gospel, ▼▼Lit to the obtaining of
that you may obtain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. 15So then, brothers and sisters, bfstand firm and bghold on to the traditions which you were taught, whether bhby word of mouth or biby letter ▼▼Lit of
from us. 16 bkNow may our Lord Jesus Christ blHimself and God our Father, who has bmloved us and given us eternal comfort and bngood hope by grace, 17 bocomfort and bpstrengthen your hearts in every good work and word.
