So the result of the Jews hardening themselves and rejecting Christ was, under the providence of God, that the Gentiles should be saved. To provoke them to jealousy . The elder brother, in the parable of the Prodigal Son, was filled with jealousy when he saw the younger son accepted by the father ( ).
