‏ 1 Thessalonians 1

1Paul, and Silvanus, and Timothy, to the church of the Thessalonians which is in God the Father and in the Lord Jesus Christ: Grace to you, and peace. 2We give thanks to God always for you all, making mention of you in our prayers; 3Always remembering your work of faith, and labour of love, and endurance of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, in the sight of our God and Father; 4Knowing, brethren loved by God, that he has chosen you. 5For our gospel came to you not in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Spirit, and with full conviction. You know what manner of men we were among you for your sake. 6And you became followers of us, and of the Lord, having received the word despite much affliction, with joy from the Holy Spirit: 7So that you became an example to all who believe in Macedonia and Achaia. 8For from you the word of the Lord sounded out not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but your faith in God has spread abroad; so that we need not speak anything. 9For they themselves testify about what manner of reception we had from you, and how you turned to God from idols to serve a living and true God; 10And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, that is, Jesus, who delivers us from the wrath to come.
