‏ Mark 10

1And He arose from thence and came into the coasts of Judea, through the country beyond Jordan: and the people resorted to Him again; and, as He was wont, He taught them again. 2And the pharisees came to Him and asked Him, "if it were lawful for a man to put away his wife," tempting Him. 3And he answered and said unto them, What did Moses command you? 4And they said, Moses permitted a man to write a bill of divorce, and to put her away. 5And Jesus replied, He wrote this precept on account of your cruel tempers: 6but from the beginning of the world, God created them male and female. 7For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, 8and be joined to his wife, and they two shall be one flesh: so that they are no longer two, but one flesh. 9Therefore let not man separate what God hath joined together. 10And when they were in the house his disciples asked Him again about it: 11and He told them, Whoever putteth away his wife and marrieth another, committeth adultery against her. 12And if a woman be divorced from her husband, and be married to another, she committeth adultery. 13And they brought to Him little children that He might touch them: and the disciples rebuked those that brought them. 14Which Jesus observing, was much displeased, and said to them, Let the children come to me; and hinder them not; for of such is the kingdom of God. 15Verily I tell you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, shall by no means enter into it. 16And He took them in his arms, and put his hands upon them, and blessed them. 17And as he went out into the way, there came one running and kneeling to Him, and asked Him, Good master, what shall I do, that I may inherit eternal life? 18And Jesus said unto him, Why dost thou call me good? there is none good, but one, that is God. 19Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Do not defraud, Honour thy father and thy mother. 20And he answered and said unto Him, Master, all these have I kept from my youth. 21Then Jesus looked upon him with affection, and said to him, One thing thou wantest; go, sell all that thou hast, and give it to the poor; and thou shalt have treasure in heaven; and come, take up the cross and follow me. 22But he was sad at that saying, and went away sorrowful; for he had great possessions. 23And Jesus looking round about saith to his disciples, How difficultly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God! 24And the disciples were astonished at his words. But Jesus repeating it, saith unto them, Children, how hard is it for them, that trust in riches, to enter into the kingdom of God! 25It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God. 26And they were exceedingly amazed, saying one to another, Who then can be saved? 27But Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God; for with God all things are possible. 28Then Peter said to Him, Behold we have left all, and followed thee. 29And Jesus answered and said, Verily I tell you, there is no one that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, 30or lands for my sake and the gospel's, but he shall receive an hundred-fold: now in this time indeed, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands with persecutions; but in the world to come life everlasting. 31But many that are first shall be last, and the last first. 32And they were in the way going up to Jerusalem, and Jesus went before them: and they were amazed at it, and afraid to follow Him. And again taking the twelve aside, He began to tell them what things should befal Him, 33saying, Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of man shall be delivered to the chief priests, and the scribes, and they will condemn Him to death, and deliver Him to the Gentiles; 34and they will insult Him, and scourge Him, and spit upon Him, and put Him to death: but on the third day He shall rise again. 35Then come to Him James and John, the sons of Zebedee, saying, Master, we desire that thou wouldest do for us what we shall request: 36and He said to them, What do ye desire me to do for you? 37they said unto Him, Grant that we may sit, one on thy right hand, and the other on thy left, in thy glory. 38But Jesus said unto them, Ye know not what ye ask. Can ye drink of the cup, that I drink of? and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with? 39And they said, We can. And Jesus said unto them, The cup indeed which I drink, ye shall drink of; and with the baptism, that I am baptized with, shall ye be baptized: 40but to sit on my right hand and on my left, is not mine to give, but for whom it is prepared. 41And when the other ten heard it, they were provoked at James and John. 42But Jesus called them to Him, and said unto them, Ye know that those who rule among the Gentiles, lord it over them, and their grandees exercise authority upon them. 43But it shall not be so among you: but whoever would be great among you shall be your minister; 44and whoever of you would be first shall be servant of all. 45For the Son of man came not to be ministred unto, but to minister and to give his life a ransom for many. 46And they came to Jericho: and as He was going out of Jericho, with his disciples and a great multitude, blind Bartimeus, the son of Timeus, sat by the way-side begging. 47And hearing that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say, Jesus, thou son of David, have mercy on me. 48And many rebuked him, that he might hold his peace: but he cried out so much the more, Thou son of David, have pity on me. 49And Jesus stopt, and ordered him to be called: so they called the blind man, and said to him, Be of good courage, rise up, He calleth thee. 50And he threw off his outer garment, and arose, and came to Jesus. 51And Jesus said to him, What dost thou desire that I should do for thee? And the blind man said to Him, Lord, that I may recover my sight. 52And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way, thy faith has cured thee. And he immediately recovered his sight, and followed Jesus in the way.
